Philharmonia Fantastique: the Making of the Orchestra

Grades 1-6

Wed Oct 25 — Thu Oct 26, 2023

Orchestra Hall

~50 Minutes

What makes an orchestra? Come on an orchestral adventure with a special Sprite who will teach students about each of the instrument families that make up an orchestra. Featuring a Grammy-award winning soundtrack played by the Minnesota Orchestra, Philharmonia Fantastique: The Making of the Orchestra is a multi-media concerto that explores the connections between music, sound, performance, creativity, and technology. Following the film, students can check their learning by identifying instrument families as the Orchestra plays selections from Jerod Impichchaachaaha Tate’s Spirit Chief Names the Animal People.

A Few Things to Know

  1. Prepare for the concert with a curriculum available for download approximately six weeks before your trip to Orchestra Hall.
  2. Tickets can be reserved in advance with no payment due until Fall 2023.
