Esther Seitz

Cello, Rosemary and David Good Fellow

Cellist Esther Seitz was brought up in a musical home and immersed in music from a young age. She fell in love with the cello at the age of 8 and subsequently began her studies of the instrument. She is now proud to be the third generation of professional musicians in her family. Currently based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, she holds a position as a Rosemary and David Good Fellow with the Minnesota Orchestra. She has performed at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Manhattan School of Music, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts with the Kansas City Symphony, Meadowmount School of Music, Riverwalk Center as a fellow with National Repertory Orchestra, Teatro de la Reforma in Matamoros, Mexico, Tulindberg Hall in Oulu, Finland, and Balderin Sali in Helsinki, Finland.

A passionate chamber musician, Seitz is a co-founder of Bowery Trio, which was formed in 2019. In October 2022, Bowery Trio made their international debut at the invitation of the Uuden Musiikin Lokakuu festival in Oulu. The Trio has been awarded multiple grants to support their current projects—supporting organizations include Chamber Music America, the New York Community Trust and Finlandia Foundation National. As an ethnically and culturally diverse ensemble, Bowery Trio has a mission of focusing on uplifting composers from various backgrounds through performance and education. Apart from her Trio, she has also performed chamber music as part of the Downtown Brooklyn Chamber Music Festival, newEar Contemporary Music Ensemble and University of Texas-Rio Grande Valley’s Patron of the Arts concert series.

Seitz earner a master’s of music in classical cello from the Manhattan School of Music (MSM), and a bachelor’s degree in cello performance from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music (UMKC). She served as principal cellist for the MSM Symphony Orchestra, the UMKC Symphony Orchestra and the UMKC Opera Orchestra. Her major teachers include Julia Lichten, Michael Mermagen, Mark Gibbs and Carter Enyeart. Esther has also worked alongside artists such as Lynn Harrell, Hans Jørgen Jensen, David Geber, Josephine Knight, Steven Tenenbom and John Sharp through chamber coachings, festivals and masterclasses.

When Esther is not playing cello, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, cooking and eating great food, drawing, being around animals and traveling.
